Position Summary + Objective
The Commercial Lines Advisor is responsible for the establishment and
development of new clients for EM Ford & Company from lead generation to
close. The objective is attained by developing significant new business clients, building relationships with potential and network resources and cross-selling the EM Ford & Company services to current customers. Revenue generation and client satisfaction is achieved by working with support teams in line with EM Ford & Company’s vision and values.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand EM Ford’s RiskGuide Process to develop risk management
plans and solutions for prospects and clients - Develop and maintain a book of commercial lines clients in accordance
with predetermined goals by identifying prospects and taking them
through the sales process - Examine prospects to determine insurance and risk management needs
by following EM Ford’s model - Prepare and present proposals for risk management plans and insurance
coverages for prospects and existing clients - Understand and interpret policy documents, and identify potential risks a
prospect and/or client may be exposed to - Maintain relationships and knowledge of existing accounts and
coverages to retain current clients upon renewal - Effectively communicate and build long term relationships with carriers,
clients, applicable industry associations and colleagues both verbally and
in writing - Demonstrate sales aptitude, including consultative selling in order to
create desired outcomes - Self-motivated to pursue and close sales
- Identify market trends to provide input into EM Ford’s overall marketing
strategy - Demonstrate the ability to work within a team selling environment
- Utilize strong time management and organizational skills
- Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual goals
- Maintain a consistently healthy pipeline of new business

- Sales, service and/or insurance industry experience
- Self-starter and team player who is open to feedback and can set
priorities and meet defined goals - Adapts quickly to new technologies and products
- Has a mindset for continually learning and improving
- Ability to effectively communicate and build long-term relationships
- Insurance license must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment
Preferred
- 3+ years of sales, service and/or insurance industry experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent applicable work experience
Screening
- Must complete a Pre-Employment Behavioral Assessment to analyze job
compatibility - Must be able to successfully clear a Background Check
